4 Day Mount Toubkal Guided Trek
During the four days of this trek, you will have the opportunity to acclimate to the altitude while spending time in the company of native Berbers and experiencing their culture. The nights spent on this trek are spent in local houses, refuges, or tents, maximizing your experience of the region. This trek can easily be extended into an adventure that includes longer stays and can even be expanded into the desert with the addition of camels. This trek will take you on a tour of traditional Berber villages before you ascend to the summit of Mount Toubkal (4167m).
Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech–Imi Oughlad–Tinzert–Ouirgan
You will start the first day's journey by traveling by organized transportation from Marrakech to Imi Oughlad (1340m), where you will be greeted by your guide, cook, and mule. The hike will pass through a large forest of pine, juniper, and oak trees as you head to Tinzert, where you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the Ouirgan Valley. You will spend the night in a local gite.
Day 2: Azzaden Valley-Tazaghart-Tamsoult
The second day offers views of the stunning Azzaden Valley, which is home to colorful villages and hills, the Azzaden River encircled by residences, and an incredible panorama that encompasses the Tazaghart Plateau and a sizable portion of the Atlas Mountain chain. Depending on the weather, your evening will conclude in Tamsoult (2700m) at the lodge or in tents.
Day 3: Aguelzim-Elhaouz-Refuge
After passing the largest waterfall in the Toubkal area, you will begin your 7-8-hour hike up a steep incline to reach the Aguelzim Pass (3600m), which offers a stunning view over the Atlas Mountain villages and the plain of Elhaouz. You will spend the night in a refuge or tent at 3208m.
Day 4: Trek to Mount Toubkal, Imlil, and Marrakech
Begin your day with an early breakfast before embarking on a trek to the summit of Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa, standing at 4167 meters. Revel in the breathtaking panoramic views that stretch across the Sahara Desert, quaint Berber villages, and the picturesque valleys below. This final day of your journey will encompass approximately eight hours of exploration.
